Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: My maternal uncle, Jadd bin Qays, took me along among the seventy riders from the Ansar who came as a delegation to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came out to us, and with him (peace and blessings be upon him) was his (peace and blessings be upon him) paternal uncle, al-Abbas bin Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O uncle, take the covenant from your maternal relatives." The seventy said to him (peace and blessings be upon him): O Muhammad, ask for your Lord and for yourself whatever you wish. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "As for what I ask of you for my Lord, it is that you worship Him and associate nothing with Him; and as for what I ask of you for myself, it is that you protect me from what you protect yourselves from."
