It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him), who reports from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever reads the Qur'an, acts upon it, and dies (adhering to) the Jama'ah, Allah will raise him on the Day of Resurrection with the Safarah (the noble angels) and the rulers. Whoever reads the Qur'an while it keeps slipping away from him (he cannot retain it), yet he does not abandon it, will have his reward twice over. And whoever is eager for it but is unable (to retain it fully), yet does not abandon it, Allah will raise him on the Day of Resurrection with the nobles of his family. They will be favoured over the rest of creation just as eagles are favoured over all other birds, and just as a spring in a meadow is favoured over what surrounds it. Then a caller will call out: 'Where are those whom tending livestock did not distract from reciting My Book?' So they will stand up, and each of them will be dressed in the crown of honour, and will be given success in his right hand and eternity in his left. Then if his parents were Muslims, they will both be clothed in a garment better than the world and all that it contains, and they will ask: 'From where has this (come) to us?' And they will be told: 'Because your son used to read the Qur'an.'"
