Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 17229 — from Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal

Sayyiduna Abu Tha'labah al-Khushani (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him when he sent him to Yemen: "Any man who apostatises from Islam, call him (to repentance); if he repents, accept it from him, and if he does not repent, strike his neck. And any woman who apostatises from Islam, call her; if she repents, accept it from her, and if she refuses, keep trying to bring her to repentance."
