Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 17186 — Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal fell

حَدَّثَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى، ثنا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، ثنا أَشْعَثُ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، أَنَّ مُعَاذَ بْنَ جَبَلٍ، أُغْمِيَ عَلَيْهِ، فَجَعَلَتْ أُخْتُهُ تَقُولُ: وَاجَبَلَاهُ أَوْ كَلِمَةً أُخْرَى، فَلَمَّا أَفَاقَ قَالَ: «مَا زِلْتِ مُؤْذِيَةً لِي مُنْذُ الْيَوْمِ» قَالَتْ: لَقَدْ كَانَ يَعِزُّ عَلَيَّ أَنْ أُؤْذِيَكَ، قَالَ: " مَا زَالَ مَلَكٌ شَدِيدُ الِانْتِهَارِ كُلَّمَا قُلْتِ: وَاكَذَا قَالَ: أَكَذَلِكَ أَنْتَ؟ فَأَقُولُ لَا "
Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates: Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) fell unconscious, and his sister began to say: "O Jabal!" or some other words like it. When he regained consciousness he said: "You have kept on hurting me all day today." She said: "It would be very hard on me to hurt you." He said: "A severely rebuking angel stayed with me constantly; every time you said 'O so-and-so!' he would say: 'Are you really like that?' And I would say: 'No.'"
