Sayyiduna Mujammi' bin Jariyah al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We set out with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) from Madinah, until, when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) reached Kura' al-Ghamim, the people began hastening towards the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The people said to one another: What is the matter with the people? It was said: Revelation has come down to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). So we too set off, until we found the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) standing at Kura' al-Ghamim. When the people had gathered, he (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse to them: "Indeed, We have granted you a clear victory" [Al-Fath: 1]. Some of the people said: O Messenger of Allah! Is it a victory? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, by the One in whose hand is my soul, it is indeed a victory." Then these spoils were divided among the people of Hudaybiyah into eighteen shares; the army numbered one thousand five hundred, among them three hundred horsemen, and a horseman received two shares.
The narrator said: And this wording is from the narration of Ibn al-Tabba'.
