حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ بْنِ نَجْدَةَ الْحَوْطِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ عَبْدُ الْقُدُّوسِ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ، ثنا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ أَبِي الزَّاهِرِيَّةِ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «إِنَّمَا أَنَا مُبَلِّغٌ وَاللهُ يَهْدِي، وَقَاسِمٌ وَاللهُ يُعْطِي، فَمَنْ بَلَغَهُ عَنِّي شَيْءٌ بِحُسْنِ هَدْيٍ وَحُسْنِ رَغْبَةٍ فَذَاكَ الَّذِي يُبَارَكُ لَهُ فِيهِ، وَمَنْ بَلَغَهُ عَنِّي شَيْءٌ بِسُوءِ رَغْبَةٍ وَسُوءِ هَدْيٍ فَذَلِكَ الَّذِي يَأْكُلُ وَلَا يَشْبَعُ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah bin Abi Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I am only a conveyor, and it is Allah who guides; and I am a distributor, and it is Allah who gives. So whoever receives something from me in a good manner and with good desire, it is blessed for him; and whoever receives something from me with ill desire and in a bad manner, his example is that of one who eats but is never satisfied."
