Imam al-Hadrami (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Salim bin Abdullah (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) began saying to some of those present: "Do you know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said such-and-such about such-and-such a matter?" They said: "Yes." He said: "Did he (peace and blessings be upon him) not say, concerning tamattu' (combining) Hajj and Umrah, that he forbade it?" The narrator said: Those who had confirmed the first hadith said: "No, by Allah! He (peace and blessings be upon him) did not say that, nor do we know that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said it."
