حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ، ثنا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ نَجِيحٍ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ صَدَقَةَ، ثنا بِسْطَامُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ، ثنا أَبُو عَامِرٍ، ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي عِمْرَانَ، عَنْ جُنْدُبٍ، قَالَ: «كُنَّا مَعَ نَبِيِّنَا صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِتْيَانًا حَزَاوِرَةَ فَتَعَلَّمْنَا الْإِيمَانَ قَبْلَ أَنْ نَتَعَلَّمَ الْقُرْآنَ، ثُمَّ تَعَلَّمْنَا الْقُرْآنَ فَنَزْدَادُ بِهِ إِيمَانًا، فَإِنَّكُمُ الْيَوْمَ تَعَلَّمُونَ الْقُرْآنَ قَبْلَ الْإِيمَانِ»
Abu Imran relates that Sayyiduna Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "We were young boys with our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and we learned faith before we learned the Qur'an. Then we learned the Qur'an, and through it our faith increased; whereas you people today learn the Qur'an before faith."
