Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 1633 — I heard Abu Dharr al-Ghifari say

حَدَّثَنَا طَاهِرُ بْنُ عِيسَى بْنِ قَيْرَسٍ الْمِصْرِيُّ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، ثنا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ نُعَيْمٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا ذَرًّ الْغِفَارِيَّ، وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «مَنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَى اللهِ شِبْرًا، تَقَرَّبَ إِلَيْهِ ذِرَاعًا، وَمَنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَيْهِ ذِرَاعًا، تَقَرَّبَ اللهُ إِلَيْهِ بَاعًا، وَمَنْ أَقْبَلَ إِلَى اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مَاشِيًا، أَقْبَلَ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِلَيْهِ مُهَرْوِلًا، وَاللهُ أَعْلَى وَأَجَلُّ، وَاللهُ أَعْلَى، وَأَجَلُّ، وَاللهُ أَعْلَى، وَأَجَلُّ»
Ziyad bin Nu'aym narrates: I heard Abu Dharr al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) say on the pulpit: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever draws closer to Allah by a handspan, Allah draws closer to him by a forearm's length; and whoever draws closer to Him by a forearm's length, Allah draws closer to him by an arm's span; and whoever comes towards Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, walking, Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, comes towards him running. And Allah is the Most High and Most Majestic, Allah is the Most High and Most Majestic, Allah is the Most High and Most Majestic."
