Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 16234 — the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said

حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ السَّدُوسِيُّ، ثنا عَاصِمُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، ثنا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنِ ابْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِ كَالْخَامَةِ مِنَ الزَّرْعِ تُفَيِّئُهَا الرِّيَاحُ تَصْرَعُهَا مَرَّةً وَتَعْدِلُهَا مَرَّةً حَتَّى يَأْتِيَهُ أَجَلُهُ، وَمَثَلُ الْكَافِرِ كَالْأَرْزَةِ الْمُجْذِبَةِ عَلَى أَصْلِهَا، لَا تُفَيِّئُهَا حَتَّى يَكُونَ انْجِفَافُهَا مَرَّةً وَاحِدَةً»
Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The likeness of the believer is that of a tender plant of the crops which the winds keep bending, sometimes laying it down and sometimes straightening it, until his appointed time comes to him. The likeness of the disbeliever is that of a sturdy cedar tree standing stiffly upon its root; the winds cannot bend it, until it is uprooted all at once."
