حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ الْعَلَّافُ الْمِصْرِيُّ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ، حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ زَحْرٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ، عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ، قَالَ: عَهْدِي بِنَبِيِّكُمْ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَبْلَ وَفَاتِهِ لِخَمْسِ لَيَالٍ فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ: «لَمْ يَكُنْ مِنْ نَبِيٍّ إِلَّا وَلَهُ خَلِيلٌ فِي أُمَّتِهِ، وَإِنَّ خَلِيلِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي قُحَافَةَ، وَإِنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ اتَّخَذَ صَاحِبَكُمْ خَلِيلًا»
: «أَلَا وَإِنَّ الْأُمَمَ قَبْلَكُمْ كَانُوا يَتَّخِذُونَ قُبُورَ أَنْبِيَائِهِمْ مَسَاجِدَ، وَإِنِّي أَنْهَاكُمْ عَنْ ذَلِكَ، اللهُمَّ هَلْ بَلَغَتُ» ، ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: «اللهُمَّ اشْهَدْ» ، ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ، ثُمَّ أُغْمِيَ عَلَيْهِ هُنَيَّةً
ثُمَّ قَالَ: «اللهَ اللهَ فِيمَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُكُمْ، أَشْبِعُوا بُطُونَهُمْ، وَأَلْبِسُوا ظُهُورَهُمْ، وَلَيِّنُوا الْقَوْلَ لَهُمْ»
: «أَلَا وَإِنَّ الْأُمَمَ قَبْلَكُمْ كَانُوا يَتَّخِذُونَ قُبُورَ أَنْبِيَائِهِمْ مَسَاجِدَ، وَإِنِّي أَنْهَاكُمْ عَنْ ذَلِكَ، اللهُمَّ هَلْ بَلَغَتُ» ، ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: «اللهُمَّ اشْهَدْ» ، ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ، ثُمَّ أُغْمِيَ عَلَيْهِ هُنَيَّةً
ثُمَّ قَالَ: «اللهَ اللهَ فِيمَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُكُمْ، أَشْبِعُوا بُطُونَهُمْ، وَأَلْبِسُوا ظُهُورَهُمْ، وَلَيِّنُوا الْقَوْلَ لَهُمْ»
Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Malik al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The last time I saw your Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was five nights before his death, and I heard him (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "There has been no prophet but that he had a khalil (intimate friend) in his nation, and my khalil is Abu Bakr bin Abi Quhafah; and Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, has taken your companion, meaning me, as His khalil."
"Listen! The nations before you used to take the graves of their prophets as places of worship, and I forbid you from that. O Allah, have I conveyed?" He said this three times. Then he said: "O Allah, bear witness." He said this three times as well. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) fainted for a little while.
Then he said: "Fear Allah, fear Allah, regarding the slaves whom your right hands possess: feed them until their stomachs are full, clothe them, and speak gently to them."
