Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 15965 — The Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out

Sayyiduna Qays bin al-Nu'man al-Sakuni (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) set out, and with him Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), hiding from Quraysh, and they passed by a shepherd. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Is there any goat that has been covered by a male?" He said: No, but here is a goat which weakness has left behind. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Bring it to me." He brought it to him, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) passed his hand over its udder and prayed for blessing. Then he milked it and gave Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) to drink, then he milked it and gave the shepherd to drink, then he milked it and drank himself. The shepherd said to him: By Allah, I have never seen anyone like you; who are you? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If I tell you, will you keep my secret?" He said: Yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I am Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah." He said: Are you the one about whom Quraysh say that you have become an apostate (Sabi')? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "They do say that." He said: I bear witness that you are the Messenger of Allah, and no one is able to do what you have done except a messenger. Then he said: Shall I follow you? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Not today; but when you hear that we have prevailed, come to us." So he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) after he had prevailed in Madinah.
