Abdullah bin Fayruz al-Daylami narrates from his father, Sayyiduna Fayruz al-Daylami (may Allah be pleased with him): I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, we are people of grapes and vineyards, and the prohibition of wine has been revealed; so what shall we do? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Make them into raisins (dried grapes)." They said: Then what shall we do with the raisins? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Soak them at your morning meal and drink it at your evening meal, and soak them at your evening meal and drink it at your morning meal." They said: O Messenger of Allah, shall we not leave it longer until it becomes strong? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not put it in large jars or in gourd vessels, but put it in leather skins, for if it is delayed beyond its time it becomes vinegar." I said: O Prophet of Allah, we are those whom you know, our tribe is where you know, and we live among those whom you know; so who is our protector? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah and His Messenger."
