حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِرْقٍ الْحِمْصِيُّ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، ثنا أَبِي، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُهَاجِرٍ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ بْنِ حَلْبَسٍ، عَنْ أُمِّ الدَّرْدَاءِ، أَنَّ فَضَالَةَ بْنَ عُبَيْدٍ كَانَ يَقُولُ: «اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الرِّضَا بَعْدَ الْقَضَاءِ، وَبَرَدَ الْعَيْشِ بَعْدَ الْمَوْتِ، وَلَذَّةَ النَّظَرِ إِلَى وَجْهِكَ، وَالشَّوْقَ إِلَى لِقَائِكَ مِنْ غَيْرِ ضَرَّاءَ مُضِرَّةٍ، وَلَا فِتْنَةٍ مُضِلَّةٍ. وَزَعَمَ أَنَّهَا دَعَوَاتٌ كَانَ يَدْعُو بِهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ»
Umm al-Darda (may Allah have mercy on her) narrates that Sayyiduna Fadalah bin Ubayd (may Allah be pleased with him) used to make this supplication: "O Allah, I ask You for contentment after Your decree, a cool life after death, the delight of looking at Your Face, and longing to meet You, without any harmful affliction and without any misleading trial." And he held that these were the very supplications that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to make.
