It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a woman from the tribe of Khath'am asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) a ruling during the Farewell Hajj, while Sayyiduna al-Fadl bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) was riding behind the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): The obligation of Hajj that Allah has placed upon His servants has come upon my father while he is a very old man; he cannot sit upright on a mount. Will my performing Hajj on his behalf suffice? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: "Yes." Sayyiduna al-Fadl (may Allah be pleased with him) began looking at her, and she was a beautiful woman, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) took hold of Sayyiduna al-Fadl's (may Allah be pleased with him) face and turned it to the other side.
