حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ هَاشِمٍ الْبَغَوِيُّ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ الْبَاهِلِيُّ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَزَوَّرِ، عَنْ نُفَيْعٍ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ، وَأَبِي بَرْزَةَ أَنَّهُمَا قَالَا: خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي جَنَازَةٍ فَرَأَى قَوْمًا قَدْ طَرَحُوا أَرْدِيَتَهُمْ يَمْشُونَ فِي خَمْصٍ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَبِفِعْلِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ - أَوْ بِصُنْعٍ - تَأْخُذُونَ، لَقَدْ هَمَمْتُ أَنْ أَدْعُوَ عَلَيْكُمْ دَعْوَةً تَرْجِعُونَ فِي غَيْرِ صُوَرِكُمْ» . فَأَخَذُوا أَرْدِيَتَهُمْ وَلَمْ يَعُودُوا إِلَى ذَلِكَ
Sayyiduna Imran bin Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Abu Barzah (may Allah be pleased with him) both said: We went out with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) for a funeral, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) saw some people who had thrown off their cloaks and were walking (without cloaks) in their shirts only. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Are you adopting a deed - or a practice - of the Jahiliyyah? I had resolved to invoke such a curse against you that you would return in forms other than your own." So they put on their cloaks and never did that again.
