Sayyiduna Jubayr bin Mut'im (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began the prayer, he would say: "Allahu akbaru kabira" three times, and "Al-hamdu lillahi kathira" three times, and "Subhan Allahi bukratan wa asila" three times, then he would say: "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from Satan, from his pushing, his spitting and his blowing," and he would say: "His spitting is poetry, his blowing is arrogance, and his pushing is that by which a person dies in his affliction."
