Afif bin al-Harith al-Yamani (may Allah be pleased with him)
Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 15269 — the Prophet ﷺ said: No nation ever

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْبَزَّازُ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ أَبُو يَحْيَى صَاعِقَةٌ، ثنا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ، ثنا الْمُعَافَى بْنُ عِمْرَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْغَسَّانِيِّ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ، عَنْ عَفِيفِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ الْيَمَانِيِّ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «مَا مِنْ أُمَّةٍ ابْتَدَعَتْ بَعْدَ نَبِيِّهَا فِي دِينِهَا بِدْعَةً إِلَّا أَضَاعَتْ بَدَلَهَا مِنَ السُّنَّةِ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Afif bin al-Harith al-Yamani (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No nation ever introduced an innovation (bid'ah) into its religion after its prophet except that it lost a part of the Sunnah in exchange for it."
