حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ثنا وُهَيْبٌ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ حَرْمَلَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ يَعْلَى، عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ خَارِجَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «تَعَلَّمُوا مِنْ أَنْسَابِكُمْ مَا تَصِلُونَ بِهِ أَرْحَامَكُمْ، فَإِنَّ صِلَةَ الرَّحِمِ مَحَبَّةٌ لِلْأَهْلِ، وَثَرَاءٌ لِلْمَالِ وَمَنْسَأَةٌ لِلْأَجَلِ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ala' bin Kharijah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Learn enough of your lineages to maintain your ties of kinship with them, for maintaining ties of kinship creates love among one's family, brings abundance to wealth, and extends one's lifespan."
