The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyiduna Awf bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): "O Awf, count six things before the Hour. The first: my death; then after it, the conquest of Bayt al-Maqdis (Jerusalem); then after it, a place where my Ummah will settle in Syria, where a plague will destroy them like the plague of sheep; then after it, wealth will be so abundant among you that a man will be given a hundred dinars and will still consider it insufficient; then after it, a trial will arise among you that will enter every house of the Arabs; then after it, Banu al-Asfar (the Romans) will make a truce with you, at the end of which they will gather under eighty banners, under each banner twelve thousand soldiers."
