Sayyiduna A'idh bin Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Sumayr bin Zuhayr al-Jasri said: O Messenger of Allah, my brother Salamah bin Zuhayr set out emigrating to Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and the herdsmen of your camels from Banu Ghifar came upon him on the way during the sacred month and killed him, while there had been a blood feud between us and them in the Days of Ignorance. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) summoned them and asked them about it, and they said: We found him driving your camels, so we wanted to seize him; he resisted, so we killed him. (The narrator says:) I do not know whether he (peace and blessings be upon him) made them swear an oath or accepted their word, except that he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him about his brother's Islam and he could find no witness; so, on account of the sanctity of the sacred month, he (peace and blessings be upon him) set fifty camels as blood money. The narrator says: Those camels proved to be the best and most blessed of wealth among his household.
