حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ، ثنا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ، وَحِبَّانُ بْنُ مُوسَى، قَالَا: ثنا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ، أَنَّ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنَ عُلَاثَةَ أَتَى عُمَرَ فِي اللَّيْلِ وَهُوَ يَرَى أَنَّهُ خَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ حِينَ نَزَعَهُ عُمَرُ فَقَالَ: «لَمْ تَرْعَكَ، لَا أَبَا لَكَ، وَقَدْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْتَعِينُ بِكَ، وَلَمْ يَرْعَكَ» الْحَدِيثُ
Sayyiduna Alqamah bin Ulathah (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) at night, and he (Alqamah) thought he was Sayyiduna Khalid bin al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with him). This was at the time when Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) had dismissed Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him). He (Alqamah) said: He did not show you regard, may you have no father! Even though the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to seek your help, still he did not show you regard. (The narrator then related the full hadith.)
