حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزِّنْبَاعِ، ثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ، ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ قَالَ: بَيْنَا أَنَا أَسِيرُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَ الْجُحْفَةِ وَالْأَبْوَاءِ إِذْ غَشِيَتْنَا رِيحٌ وَظُلْمَةٌ، فَجَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَعَوَّذُ بِأَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ وَأَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ وَيَقُولُ: «يَا عُقْبَةُ، تَعَوَّذْ فَمَا تَعَوَّذَ مُتَعَوِّذٌ بِمِثْلِهَا» قَالَ: ثُمَّ سَمِعْتُهُ يَؤُمُّنَا بِهِمَا فِي الصَّلَاةِ
Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I was travelling with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) between al-Juhfah and al-Abwa' when a windstorm and darkness covered us. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) began seeking refuge with Surah al-Falaq and Surah al-Nas, and saying: "O Uqbah! Seek refuge, for no one who seeks refuge has ever sought refuge with anything like them." Sayyiduna Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Then I heard him (peace and blessings be upon him) leading us in prayer with these two surahs.
