Abu Ali al-Hamdani, who lived in Alexandria for a year, said: I set out on a journey and Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) was with us. We said to him: Lead us in prayer. He said: I will not do so; I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever leads the people in prayer and prays on time and completes the prayer, the reward is for both him and them; and whoever falls short in any of that, the burden is upon him alone and not upon them."
