Abu Ushshanah said: Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say: We do not say what he (peace and blessings be upon him) did not say; the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever attributes to me something I did not say, let him take his seat in Hell."
Sayyiduna Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "There are men of my Ummah, one of whom gets up at night and struggles with himself to purify himself, while there is a knot upon him. When he washes his feet, a knot is untied; when he washes his face, a knot is untied; when he wipes his head, a knot is untied. Then Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, says: Look at My servant, struggling with himself in order to ask of Me. Whatever My servant has asked is his."
