حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ مَنْدَهْ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ، ثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، ثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ يُونُسَ بْنِ بُكَيْرٍ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عَلِيٍّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِخِيَارِ عُمَّالِكُمْ وَشِرَارِهِمْ؟» قَالُوا: بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، قَالَ: «فَإِنَّ خِيَارَهُمْ لَكُمْ مَنْ تُحِبُّونَهُ وَيُحِبُّكُمْ وَتَدْعُونَ اللهَ لَهُمْ وَيَدْعُونَ اللهَ لَكُمْ، وَشِرَارُهُمْ شِرَارُهُمْ لَكُمْ مَنْ تُبْغِضُونَهُمْ وَيُبْغِضُونَكُمْ وَتَدْعُونَ اللهَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَيَدْعُونَ اللهَ عَلَيْكُمْ» فَقَالُوا: أَفَلَا نُقَاتِلُهُمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ: «لَا، دَعُوهُمْ مَا صَامُوا وَصَلُّوا»
Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Shall I not tell you about the good and the bad among your rulers?" The Companions said: Certainly, O Messenger of Allah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The good among them for you are those whom you love and who love you, for whom you pray and who pray for you; and the bad among them for you are those whom you hate and who hate you, whom you curse and who curse you." The Companions said: O Messenger of Allah, shall we not fight them? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, leave them as long as they fast and pray."
