حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ التَّمَّارُ الْبَصْرِيُّ، ثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ، ثَنَا لَيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الْخَيْرِ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ رَاكِبٌ عَلَى بَغْلَتِهِ الْبَيْضَاءِ، فَوَضَعْتُ يَدِي عَلَى قَدَمِهِ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَقْرِئْنِي، قَالَ: «إِنَّكَ لَنْ تَقْرَأَ بِشَيْءٍ أَبْلَغَ عِنْدَ اللهِ مِنْ قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ»
Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was riding his white mule. I placed my hand on his foot and said: O Messenger of Allah! Teach me something to recite. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You will not recite anything more eloquent in the sight of Allah than Surah al-Falaq (Qul a'udhu bi-Rabbil-falaq)."
