حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ، ثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ: وَعَدَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي أَصْلِ الْعَقَبَةِ يَوْمَ الْأَضْحَى وَنَحْنُ سَبْعُونَ رَجُلًا، قَالَ عُقْبَةُ: إنِّي لَأَصْغَرُهُمْ سِنًّا، فَأَتَانَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: «أَوْجِزُوا فِي الْخُطْبَةِ فَإِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ كُفَّارَ قُرَيْشٍ» فَقُلْنَا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، سَلْنَا لِرَبِّكَ وَسَلْنَا لِنَفْسِكَ وَسَلْنَا لِأَصْحَابِكَ، وَأَخْبِرْنَا مَا لَنَا مِنَ الثَّوَابِ عَلَى اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَعَلَيْكَ، فَقَالَ: «أَمَّا الَّذِي أَسْأَلُ لِرَبِّي تُؤْمِنُوا بِهِ وَلَا تُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا، وَأَمَّا الَّذِي أَسْأَلُ لِنَفْسِي فَإِنِّي أَسْأَلُكُمُ أنْ تُطِيعُونِي أَهْدِكُمْ سَبِيلَ الرَّشَادِ، وَأَسْأَلُكُمْ لِي وَلِأَصْحَابِي أَنْ تُواسُونَا فِي ذَاتِ أَيْدِيكُمْ وأَنْ تَمْنَعُونَا مِمَّا مَنَعْتُمْ مِنْهُ أَنْفُسَكُمْ، فَإِذَا فَعَلْتُمْ ذَلِكَ فَلَكُمْ عَلَى اللهِ الْجَنَّةُ وَعَلَيَّ» قَالَ: فَمَدَدْنَا أَيْدِيَنَا فَبَايَعْنَاهُ
Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amr Abu Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) promised to meet us at the foot of al-Aqabah on the day of sacrifice, and we were seventy men. Sayyiduna Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I was the youngest of them in age. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us and said: "Keep the talk brief, for I fear the disbelievers of Quraysh for you." We said: O Messenger of Allah, ask of us whatever you wish for your Lord, for yourself and for your companions, and tell us what reward there is for us with Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, and with you. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "For my Lord I ask that you believe in Him and do not associate anything with Him. For myself I ask that you obey me so that I may guide you to the right path. And for myself and my companions I ask that you share your wealth with us and that you protect us from whatever you protect yourselves from. If you do that, then for you is Paradise with Allah, and that is also my guarantee." The narrator said: So we stretched out our hands and pledged allegiance to him (peace and blessings be upon him).
