Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 14642 — (The narrator said:) I heard Sayyiduna

حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى، ثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ، ثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، ثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ قَيْسًا، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا مَسْعُودٍ يَقُولُ: انْكَسَفَتِ الشَّمْسُ يَوْمَ تُوُفِّيَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ النَّاسُ: انْكَسَفَتْ لِمَوْتِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنَّ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ آيَتَانِ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللهِ لَا يَنْكَسِفَانِ لِمَوْتِ أَحَدٍ وَلَا لِحَيَاتِهِ، فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ ذَلِكَ فَافْزَعُوا إِلَى ذِكْرِ اللهِ وَإِلَى الصَّلَاةِ»
(The narrator said:) I heard Sayyiduna Abu Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) say: On the day that Ibrahim, the son of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), passed away, there was an eclipse of the sun, and the people said: The eclipse has happened because of the death of Ibrahim. At this the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The sun and the moon are two of the signs of Allah; they are not eclipsed for the death or the life of anyone. So when you see that, hasten to the remembrance of Allah and to prayer."
