It is narrated from Kharijah bin al-Salt (may Allah have mercy on him) that an uncle of his ((may Allah be pleased with him)) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and accepted Islam. When he was returning, he passed by a mad bedouin who was bound in iron (chains). One of those people said to him: "Do you have anything with which we may treat him? For this companion of yours (the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)) has brought good." He said: "Yes." He said: "I recited Umm al-Kitab (Surah al-Fatihah) over him and blew on him (ruqyah) for three days, twice every day, and he recovered. They gave me a hundred sheep, but I did not take them until I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and told him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Did you say anything other than this?' I said: 'No.' He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Eat it, in the name of Allah. By my life, whoever eats by a false ruqyah (let him bear it); you have eaten by a true ruqyah.'"
