Ismah bin Malik al-Khatmi (may Allah be pleased with him)
Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 14545 — a slave came to the Prophet ﷺ and said
اُردوEn
وَبِإِسْنَادِهِ، عَنْ عِصْمَةَ قَالَ: جَاءَ مَمْلُوكٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّ مَوْلَايَ زَوَّجَنِي وَهُوَ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يُفَرِّقَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ امْرَأَتِي، قَالَ: فَصَعِدَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمِنْبَرَ فَقَالَ: «يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، إِنَّمَا الطَّلَاقُ بِيَدِ مَنْ أَخَذَ السَّاقَ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ismah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a slave came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! My master married me off, and now he wants to separate me from my wife. The narrator said: So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ascended the pulpit and said: "O people! The right of divorce lies only with the one who took hold of the shin (that is, the one who married)."
