Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 14499 — from his father: I said to the Prophet

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، ثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ جَابِرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ، عَنْ مُجَمِّعِ بْنِ عَتَّابِ بْنِ شُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: إِنَّ لِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا وَإِخْوَةً فَأَذْهَبُ إِلَيْهِمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ أَنْ يُسْلِمُوا فَآتِيَكَ بِهِمْ، قَالَ: «إنْ هُمْ أَسْلَمُوا فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَهُمْ وَإِنْ هُمْ أَقَامُوا فَالْإِسْلَامُ وَاسِعٌ عَرِيضٌ»
Mujammi' bin Attab bin Shumayr narrated from his father: I said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "I have an elderly (father) and some brothers. I will go to them; perhaps they will accept Islam and I will bring them to you." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If they accept Islam, that is better for them, and if they stay (where they are), Islam is spacious and wide."
