Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 14486 — I saw the Prophet ﷺ twist the forelock

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثَنَا حَرَمِيُّ بْنُ حَفْصٍ، ثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنِ الزُّبَيْرِ بْنِ حُرَيْثٍ، عَنْ نُعَيْمِ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ الْبَارِقِيِّ، قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَتَلَ نَاصِيَةَ فَرَسِهِ بَيْنَ أُصْبُعَيْهِ، ثُمّ قَالَ: «الْخَيْلُ مَعْقُودٌ فِي نَوَاصِيهَا الْخَيْرُ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ»
Sayyiduna Urwah al-Bariqi (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) twist the forelock of his horse between his two fingers, then he said: "Goodness is tied to the forelocks of horses until the Day of Resurrection."
