حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثَنَا صَالِحُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ التِّرْمِذِيُّ، ثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا بْنِ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي الْقَاسِمِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: خَرَجَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي سَهْمٍ مَعَ تَمِيمٍ الدَّارِيِّ وَعَدِيِّ بْنِ بَدَّاءٍ فَمَاتَ السَّهْمِيُّ فَلَمَّا قَدِمَا بتَرِكَتِهِ فَقَدُوا جَامًا مِنْ فِضَّةٍ مُخَوَّصًا بِذَهَبٍ، فَأَحْلَفَهُمَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ثُمّ وُجِدَ، فَقَالُوا: شَرَيْنَاهُ مِنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ تَمِيمٍ فَقَامَ رَجُلَانِ مِنْ أَوْلِيَاءِ السَّهْمِيِّ فَحَلَفَا بِاللهِ لَشَهَادَتُنَا أَحَقُّ مِنْ شَهَادَتِهِمَا، وَأَنَّ الْجَامَ لِصَاحِبِكُمْ وَفِيهِمْ أُنْزِلَتْ {يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا شَهَادَةُ بَيْنِكُمْ} [المائدة: ١٠٦]
Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated: A man from Banu Sahm set out on a journey with Tamim al-Dari and Adi bin Badda'. The Sahmi died on the way. When the two arrived with his estate, a silver cup inlaid with gold was found missing. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) made the two of them take an oath. Then the cup was found, and (those with whom it was found) said: We bought it from Adi bin Tamim. At this two men from the heirs of the Sahmi stood up and swore by Allah: Our testimony is more truthful than the testimony of these two, and this cup belongs to your companion. It was about them that this verse was revealed: "O you who believe! The testimony among you" (to the end of the verse) [Surah al-Ma'idah: 106].
