Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 14172 — I heard Sayyiduna Amr bin Ma'di Karib

Abu Tawq Sharahil bin al-Qa'qa' (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I heard Sayyiduna Amr bin Ma'di Karib (may Allah be pleased with him) relating this; he said: Praise be to Allah, only a short while ago, when we performed Hajj, we used to say: 'Here I am, out of reverence for You, with apology; this is (the tribe of) Zubayd, which has come to You by a short route. It cuts across wilderness and rugged mountains; in the early morning, trained swift horses carry it along, moving sideways. They have left the idols empty and deserted.' So today we say what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) taught us: "Labbayk Allahumma labbayk, labbayk la sharika laka labbayk, inna al-hamda wa al-ni'mata laka wa al-mulk, la sharika lak (Here I am, O Allah, here I am; here I am, You have no partner, here I am; surely all praise and all blessings are Yours, and the dominion too; You have no partner)." And in the Age of Ignorance we used to prevent people from standing at Arafat, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us to stand between them and Batn Uranah. Previously their standing place on the evening of Arafah was in Batn Muhassir, out of fear that the jinn would snatch them away. And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to us: "When they become Muslims, they are simply your brothers."
