حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ أَبِي الطَّاهِرِ بْنِ السَّرْحِ الْمِصْرِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَزِيزٍ الْأَيْلِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سَلَامَةُ بْنُ رَوْحٍ، عَنْ عَقِيلٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي الْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ أَبِي سِنَانٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ فِي قَصَصِهِ، وَهُوَ يَذْكُرُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنَّ أَخَاكُمْ كَانَ لَا يَقُولُ الرَّفَثَ، يَعْنِي عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ رَوَاحَةَ:

وَفِينَا رَسُولُ اللهِ يَتْلُو كِتَابَهُ ... إِذَا انْشَقَّ مَعْرُوفٌ مِنَ الْفَجْرِ سَاطِعُ
أَرَانَا الْهُدَى بَعْدَ الْعَمَى فَقُلُوبُنَا ... بِهِ مُوقِنَاتٌ أَنَّ مَا قَالَ وَاقِعُ
يَبِيتُ يُجَافِي جَنْبَهُ عَنْ فِرَاشِهِ ... إِذَا اسْتَثْقَلَتْ بِالْكَافِرِينَ الْمَضَاجِعُ "

وَفِينَا رَسُولُ اللهِ يَتْلُو كِتَابَهُ ... إِذَا انْشَقَّ مَعْرُوفٌ مِنَ الْفَجْرِ سَاطِعُ
أَرَانَا الْهُدَى بَعْدَ الْعَمَى فَقُلُوبُنَا ... بِهِ مُوقِنَاتٌ أَنَّ مَا قَالَ وَاقِعُ
يَبِيتُ يُجَافِي جَنْبَهُ عَنْ فِرَاشِهِ ... إِذَا اسْتَثْقَلَتْ بِالْكَافِرِينَ الْمَضَاجِعُ "
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), while relating his stories and mentioning the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), said: Your brother did not speak obscenity, meaning Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Rawahah (may Allah be pleased with him); (he used to say): "Among us is the Messenger of Allah, reciting His Book, when the familiar light of dawn breaks forth, shining. He showed us guidance after blindness, so our hearts are certain of it, that whatever he said is true. He spends the night keeping his side away from his bed, when the beds have grown heavy with the disbelievers."
