ثوبان مولى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم " من غرائب مسند ثوبان رضي الله عنه يكنى أبا عبد الله ويقال: هو من اليمن، من حمير مولى آل رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، ويقال أصابه سبي فاشتراه رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فأعتقه كان يسكن حمص، مات سنة أربع
Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him), client of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) (among the rare reports of the Musnad of Thawban); his kunyah was Abu Abdullah; it is said he was from Himyar in Yemen, a client of the family of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and it is said he was taken captive and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) bought him and freed him; he lived in Hims and died in the year 54

حَدَّثَنَا طَالِبُ بْنُ قُرَّةَ الْأَذَنِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى الطَّبَّاعُ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، قَالُوا: ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا بْنِ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ، عَنْ لَيْثِ بْنِ أَبِي سُلَيْمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الْخَطَّابِ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ، قَالَ: «لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمُرْتَشِيَ وَالْمَرْشِيَّ وَالرَّائِشَ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the one who takes a bribe, the one who gives a bribe, and the one who acts as a go-between for them.
