It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: We find the description of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) (in the Torah thus): "We have sent you as a witness, a bearer of glad tidings and a warner, and as a refuge for the unlettered people. You are My servant and Messenger; I have named you 'al-Mutawakkil' (the one who relies upon Allah). You are neither harsh nor coarse, nor one who shouts in the markets; you do not repay evil with evil, but rather you pardon, forgive and overlook. And I will not take you (in death) until I have straightened the crooked religion by means of people bearing witness that there is no true god except Allah; through this testimony I will open blind eyes, deaf ears and sealed hearts." Ata' bin Yasar said: Abu Waqid al-Laythi told me that he heard Ka'b al-Ahbar also saying the same thing as Ibn Salam.
