حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ الْجُمَحِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ رَجَاءٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ ثُوَيْرٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ، يَقُولُ: «هَذَا يَوْمُ عَاشُورَاءَ فَصُومُوهُ، فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَ بِصِيَامِهِ»
Thuwayr said: I heard Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) saying: "This is the day of Ashura, so fast on it, for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that it be fasted."
