حَدَّثَنَا فُضَيْلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمَلْطِيُّ، وَأَبُو زُرْعَةَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ الْغَسِيلِ، عَنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ، عَلَى مِنْبَرِ مَكَّةَ يَقُولُ فِي خُطْبَتِهِ: يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، كَانَ يَقُولُ: «لَوْ أَنَّ ابْنَ آدَمَ أُعْطِيَ وَادِيًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ ثَانِيًا، أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ ثَالِثًا، وَلَا يَمْلَأُ جَوْفَ ابْنِ آدَمَ إِلَّا التُّرَابُ، وَيَتُوبُ اللهُ عَلَى مَنْ تَابَ»
Abbas bin Sahl bin Sa'd said: I heard Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) saying in his sermon on the pulpit of Makkah: O people, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: "If the son of Adam were given a valley of gold, he would desire a second, and if he got a second, he would desire a third; nothing fills the belly of the son of Adam except dust, and Allah accepts the repentance of whoever repents."
