Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 13687 — a man died in Madinah, and the Prophet ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزِّنْبَاعِ، قَالَ: ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عُتْبَةَ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، قَالَ: ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، قَالَا: ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي حُيَيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحُبُلِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، قَالَ: تُوُفِّيَ رَجُلٌ بِالْمَدِينَةِ، فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: «يَا لَيْتَهُ مَاتَ فِي غَيْرِ مَوْلِدِهِ» ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ: لَمَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟، فَقَالَ: «إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ إِذَا مَاتَ فِي غَيْرِ مَوْلِدِهِ، قِيسَ لَهُ مِنْ مَوْلِدِهِ إِلَى مُنْقَطَعِ أَثَرِهِ فِي الْجَنَّةِ»
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that a man died in Madinah, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led his funeral prayer, then said: "Would that he had died somewhere other than his birthplace." A man said: Why, O Messenger of Allah? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a man dies somewhere other than his birthplace, the distance from his birthplace to the farthest point of his journey is measured out for him in Paradise."
