حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى، قَالَ: ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمُقْرِئُ، قَالَ: ثنا حَيْوَةُ بْنُ شُرَيْحٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي شُرَحْبِيلُ بْنُ شَرِيكٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو، يَقُولُ: «لَخَيْرٌ أَعْمَلُهُ الْيَوْمَ أَحَبُّ إِلَىَّ مِنْ مِثْلَيْهِ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، لِأَنَّا كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَهُمُّنَا الْآخِرَةُ وَلَا تَهُمُّنَا الدُّنْيَا، وَإِنَّا الْيَوْمَ قَدْ مَالَتْ بِنَا الدُّنْيَا»
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "A good deed that I do today is dearer to me than twice as much done with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), because when we were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), the Hereafter was our concern and the world was not our concern, but today the world has drawn us towards itself."
