Simak bin Harb (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates: I heard Sayyiduna Tha'labah bin al-Hakam (may Allah be pleased with him) say: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "We do not eat plunder, for it is not lawful."
(The narrator Hasan bin Salih says:) I asked Simak: What was this plunder that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade? He said: Tha'labah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that it was some sheep and goats which the people had plundered on the day of Khaybar before they were distributed, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Overturn the cooking pots."
