Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 13554 — I heard (this incident) from the Prophet

Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: I heard (this incident) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on a Friday: He (peace and blessings be upon him) led the people in the Asr prayer, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting (after) the first two rak'ahs when a dog began to pass to cut off his (peace and blessings be upon him) prayer. There was fear that it would pass in front of him (peace and blessings be upon him), so Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) supplicated against the dog, and Allah destroyed it by His power. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) finished his prayer and saw that the dog had died, he said: "Which of you supplicated against this dog?" No one spoke. The Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked again, and at this Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! May my father and mother be sacrificed for you, it was I who supplicated against it; I feared it would cut off your prayer, so I supplicated against it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "O Sa'd! How did you supplicate against it?" Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) said: (I said:) O Allah! Glory be to You, there is no god but You. O Possessor of Majesty and Honour! Destroy this dog so that it does not cut off the prayer of Your Prophet. The Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Sa'd! You supplicated on such a day and at such an hour with such words that had you supplicated against anyone between the heavens, it would have been answered. So rejoice, O Sa'd."
