حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْأَعْيُنُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَتَّابٍ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: أَتَى عَلَيْنَا زَمَانٌ، وَمَا يَرَى أَحَدٌ مِنَّا أَنَّهُ أَحَقُّ بِالدِّينَارِ وَالدِّرْهَمِ مِنْ أَخِيهِ الْمُسْلِمِ، وَأَنَا فِي زَمَانٍ الدِّينَارُ وَالدِّرْهَمُ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْنَا مِنْ أَخِينَا الْمُسْلِمِ، سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «إِذَا ضَنَّ النَّاسُ بِالدِّينَارِ وَالدِّرْهَمِ، وَتَرَكُوا الْجِهَادَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ، وَلَزِمُوا أَذْنَابَ الْبَقَرِ، وَتَبَايَعُوا بِالْعِينَةِ سَلَّطَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِمْ بَلَاءً لَمْ يَرْفَعْهُ حَتَّى يُرَاجِعُوا»
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: A time passed over us when none of us thought that he had more right to the dinar and the dirham than his Muslim brother, and now we are in a time when the dinar and the dirham are dearer to us than our Muslim brother. I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "When people become miserly with the dinar and the dirham, abandon jihad in the path of Allah, cling to the tails of cattle, and trade by 'inah, Allah Almighty will impose upon them an affliction that He will not lift until they return (from their ways)."
