حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، ثنا وَاصِلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ، عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ الْمُلَائِيِّ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَا فَتَحَ اللهُ عَلَى عَادٍ مِنَ الرِّيحِ الَّتِي أُهْلِكُوا فِيهَا إِلَّا مِثْلَ مَوْضِعِ الْخَاتَمِ، فَمَرَّتْ بِأَهْلِ الْبَادِيَةِ فَحَمَلَتْ مَوَاشِيَهُمْ، وَأَمْوَالَهُمْ فَحَمَلَتْهُمْ بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ، فَلَمَّا رَأَوْا ذَلِكَ أَهْلُ الْحَاضِرَةِ مِنَ الرِّيحِ، وَمَا فِيهَا قَالُوا: هَذَا عَارِضٌ مُمْطِرُنَا فَأَلْقَتْ أَهْلَ الْبَادِيَةِ، وَمَوَاشِيَهُمْ عَلَى أَهْلِ الْحَاضِرَةِ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah Almighty opened upon Aad, of the wind with which He destroyed them, only as much as the hole of a ring. It passed by the people of the desert and carried off their livestock and their possessions, and lifted them up between the sky and the earth. When the town-dwellers saw this wind and what was in it, they said: 'This is a cloud that will bring us rain.' Then it hurled the desert people and their livestock down upon the town-dwellers."
