حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى بْنِ شَيْبَةَ الْمِصْرِيُّ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْأُمَوِيُّ، ثنا أَبِي، ثنا مَالِكُ بْنُ مِغْوَلٍ، عَنْ مُعَلًّى هُوَ الْكِنْدِيُّ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَاشِرَ عَشَرَةٍ , فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَقَالَ: يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ مَنْ أَكْيَسُ النَّاسِ؟ وَأَحْزَمُ النَّاسِ؟ قَالَ: «أَكْثَرُهُمْ ذِكْرًا لِلْمَوْتِ، وَأَشَدُّهُمُ اسْتِعْدَادًا لِلْمَوْتِ قَبْلَ نُزُولِ الْمَوْتِ أُولَئِكَ هُمُ الْأَكْيَاسُ ذَهَبُوا بِشَرَفِ الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ»
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as the tenth of ten men, and a man from the Ansar came and said: O Prophet of Allah, who is the most intelligent and the most prudent of people? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Those who remember death the most and prepare for it the most before death comes; these are the intelligent ones, and they have taken away the honour of both this world and the Hereafter."
