حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ الصَّنْعَانِيُّ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي أُوَيْسٍ، حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبَةَ الْأَشْهَلِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ ثَابِتِ بْنِ صَامِتٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ: «أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَامَ يُصَلِّي فِي مَسْجِدِ بَنِي عَبْدِ الْأَشْهَلِ، وَعَلَيْهِ كِسَاءٌ مُلْتَفٌّ بِهِ، يَضَعُ يَدَهُ عَلَيْهِ، يَقِيهِ بَرْدَ الْحَصْبَاءِ»
The grandson of Sayyiduna Thabit bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) (Abdullah bin Abd al-Rahman) narrates through his father from his grandfather that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood to pray in the mosque of Banu Abd al-Ashhal. He had a cloak wrapped around him, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) would place his hand on it so that it would protect him from the coldness of the pebbles.
