حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، حَدَّثَنِي الْحَسَنُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ سَجَّادَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ هَاشِمٍ أَبُو مَالِكٍ الْجَنْبِيُّ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ امْرَأَةً: كَانَتْ تَسْتَعِيرُ الْحُلِيَّ فِي زَمَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ثُمَّ تُمْسِكُهُ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لِتَتُبِ الْمَرْأَةُ إِلَى اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، وَإِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَلْتَرُدَّ مَا عِنْدَهَا» وَهِيَ تَسْمَعُ ثُمَّ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «قُمْ يَا فُلَانُ فَخُذْ بِيَدِهَا فَاقْطَعْهَا»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that in the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) a woman used to borrow jewellery and then keep it with her. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Let this woman repent to Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, and to His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and return what she has", and she herself was listening to this. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O so-and-so! Get up, take hold of her hand and cut it off."
