حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ الْعَلَّافُ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ أَنَّ يَحْيَى بْنَ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ أَنَّ عَوْنَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ، قَالَ: صَلَّى رَجُلٌ إِلَى جَنْبِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ فَسَمِعَهُ حِينَ سَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «أَنْتَ السَّلَامُ، وَمِنْكَ السَّلَامُ تَبَارَكْتَ يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ» ، ثُمَّ صَلَّى إِلَى جَنْبِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ فَسَمِعَهُ حِينَ سَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ، فَضَحِكَ الرَّجُلُ، فَقَالَ لَهُ ابْنُ عُمَرَ: مَا أَضْحَكَكَ؟ فَقَالَ: إِنِّي صَلَّيْتُ إِلَى جَنْبِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ مِثْلَ مَا قُلْتَ، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ: «كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ ذَلِكَ»
Awn bin Abdullah bin Utbah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: A man prayed beside Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both), and when he gave the salam he heard him say: "You are Peace, and from You is peace; Blessed are You, O Possessor of majesty and honour!" Then he prayed beside Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and heard him say the same when he gave the salam, so the man laughed. Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) asked him: "What made you laugh?" He said: "I prayed beside Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) and heard him say just as you said." Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say this."
